Europe’s premier warbird airshow. Making it’s first display appearance at Legends was a Fw190 replica and the impressive P-51 display team, the Horsemen.
Former home to the Red Arrows, now renamed as Cotswold Airport, airshows are rare at this former RAF base. Well organised and some interesting displays, it would be good to see this become a regular show.
Displays included: Wingwalkers, RAF Hawk, Red Arrows, F-86 Sabre, Meteor.
Finally the airshow season starts and to kick it off, a visit to this little gem of an airfield and historic collection.
A first visit to this small but elegant airfield in the centre of the UK.
Displays included Vampire, Wingwalkers, WW1 Display Team, Mustang, Optica, and PBY Catalina.
The airshow that never was! Following torrential rain in the days leading up to the show days, the car parks around the show ground flooded and the organisers made the difficult and unprecedented decision to cancel the displays. A tough decision as this was to be the year of the F-22 Raptor’s debut in the UK.
Luckily, by the Monday the weather had improved enough to allow those with a ticket to attend for the departures.
Despite growing up & living in Kent, I never visited the Battle of Britain Memorial until now. A fitting tribute to “The Few”.
Europe’s premier warbird show returns with a guest appearance from Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Liberty Belle”. Unfortunately “Sally B” was unserviceable, and therefore the opportunity of having three B-17’s in formation together was sadly missed, but still wonderful to see it appear alongside “Pink Lady”.
Another highlight was the formation of 5 x Stearman with wing walkers.
A tour round Southern Germany visiting Neuburg AB, Lechfeld AB, Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleißheim and Munich Airport viewing area.
Valley Aviation Society (VAS) and RAF Valley surpass previous photo calls with an excellently organised day. Although more regimented in terms of access to the hard stand this actually improved photo opportunities in my opinion.
Visiting aircraft included Tornados, Typhoon, Squirrel, Agusta AB-139 (Irish Air Corps), VC-10, C-17, C-130, Tucano and PC-9 (Irish Air Corps).
