Another frantic departures day, and for me often the best way to view aircraft that had been in the static park. With the show marking the centenary of flight, the collection of aircraft was more diverse than previous years.
Notable highlights included Hawker Hunter, Douglas DC-4, Boeing 727, Folland Gnat and Vickers VC-10.
The world’s largest military airshow at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire celebrated the centenary of flight. This year saw a return to Fairford following a temporary relocation to RAF Cottesmore to allow for runway & hard stand upgrades at Fairford.
Notable highlights included F-117 Stealth Fighter, USAF Heritage Flight, Bristol Blenheim appearing alongside the Lancaster and display teams including Patrouille Suisse, Frecce Tricolori, Red Arrows and Patrulla Aguila.
Shots from the RAF Valley Photo Day organised by the Valley Aviation Society (VAS).
A day spent split between trying to get some decent shots in very grey and wet weather and trying to get updates in the score from England vs Argentina in the 2002 World Cup from Japan. Highlights form the day included the Italian Air Force F-104 Starfighters and USAF F-16 from Aviano AB.
First visit to this seaside airshow, in Lancashire, UK. Aircraft transit to the show to display or operate out of nearby Blackpool Airport.
Highlights of the display included Hawker Hunter “Miss Demeanour”, the Army’s Blue Eagles and Navy Historic Flight’s Fairey Swordfish.
Shots from the Sunday display and Monday departures days at The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), the world’s largest military air show, temporarily hosted at RAF Cottesmore.
Highlights of the display included a tribute to Air Vice Marshall Johnnie Johnson in the form of 3 Harriers and Spitfire performing a missing man manoeuvre.
