Unique & Creative Photography

My interest in photography started in my teens, borrowing my Dad’s Olympus OM-10 SLR when attending the Great Warbirds Air Display at West Malling during the 1980’s.  The results were not always great and the cost of film processing hindered how much I could do.  The development of digital cameras was the kick starter for my re-engagement with photography, purchasing a Sony Mavica in 1999 followed by my first digital SLR in 2001, a Canon D30.

James

James

Lead Photographer
After playing at photography whilst at school, it was only in my late 20’s when I started to get serious with photography.  Self taught, I continue to challenge myself to improve and evolve my style and embrace new opportunities and subjects. I have achieved both Licentiate and subsequently Associate status with the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) with the later distinction being awarded on a portfolio of my aviation photographs. When not behind the camera, I work as a Head of Sales in the Audiology industry and am a keen runner (although not fast) and am a pilot both in the real world (PPL) and virtually (MSFS and DCS).

Hugo

Hugo

Assistant [2024 - Present]
The latest addition to the team, Hugo, is a chocolate English Show Cocker Spaniel.  Full of energy, incredible intelligence but with an attention span lasting a fraction of a second.  His interest in photography is limited (I take too long to compose) but since he was a puppy, he loves watching aircraft on approach into Manchester Airport.

Harry

Harry

Assistant [2011 - 2024]
Harry was one half of our “boys”, a blue roan English Show Cocker Spaniel, he was often our lead scout on walks which he aimed to achieve at the fastest possible pace.   Easily spooked, he was not a lover of loud noise and therefore aviation was not his forte, but he was a very loyal member of our family and always wanted to be involved in whatever we were doing.

Henry

Henry

Assistant [2011 - 2020]
Henry, the second half of our “boys”, a blue roan English Show Cocker Spaniel, was full of mischief but with a massive heart filled with love and loyalty.  Henry would scout a scenario, exploring different perspectives as to how he could access areas off limits and more often than not, find his way to his promised land.  Full of fun he left a massive hole in our lives when he was taken far too early.

Jake

Jake

Assistant [2001 - 2011]
Jake, a black English Show Cocker Spaniel was our first team member, and was a complete cuddle monster.  Spoilt rotten by us, he knew how to apply cupboard love to get exactly what he wanted.  An eager assistant, he’d join me beside the runway at Manchester Airport, or just curled up at my feet whilst editing photos.  He set the path for the others to follow.
