Airshow: Duxford Air Festival 2018

Starting to become my kick off airshow for the new season each year, Duxford spring airshows feature a variety of display items to keep me on my toes.  From warbirds to fast jets, it’s a good warm up for getting my eye in, practising panning and remembering which settings to use for each.

This year’s show probably lacked some of the crowd pullers of recent times, but the French Rafale display was superb and a joy to watch & photograph.  Warbirds were very light considering Duxford is home to so many airworthy examples but the biggest disappointment and challenge was the weather.  Hazy sunshine turned the sky to a yucky beige blanket for most of the day.  The major attraction for me had been to try to capture the return of a P-47D Thunderbolt to the UK Airshow scene, but the weather scuppered any chances of getting a half decent shot.
