Photo shoot: Cold War jets at Wattisham Airfield
Located at the former RAF Wattisham in Suffolk is the Wattisham Station Heritage Airfield Museum, home of McDonnell Douglas F-4M Phantom FGR2, XT914, and Hawker Hunter XG194. With this former RAF base now being home to the Army Air Corps, access to the museum is restricted to bookings only.
Visiting in February on the weekend that the storm known as the ‘beast from the east’ arrived in the UK, what these shots don’t illustrate is just how cold it was. Despite the cold, the weather played ball with a superb sunset and clear winter skies for some excellent night time shots.
