Photo Shoot: Vintage pair (Vampire & Meteor) at Coventry Airport

Formerly of the now defunct Classic Air Force, De Havilland Vampire T11 WZ507 and Gloster Meteor T7 WA591, were positioned outside of the Airbase hangar for a photo shoot with TLE Photos.

Advertised as a chance to see the Vampire spit flames as it roared into life, this was somewhat of a disappointment with only a minor flicker of flame, but hey ho, you can’t always guarantee getting the shot you envisaged.  Further disappointments were to be experienced with members of the aircraft’s entourage walking into shot, the aircraft taking off and disappearing (one can only assume to somewhere over the North Sea as there certainly weren’t in the vicinity of Coventry!) and then for ATC to deny a flypast despite the circuit being clear.

On an extremely positive note, TLE were quick to recognise not all had gone smoothly and despite most factors being out of their control, they kindly offered all attendees a discount on a future event.
